Celebrities, fans, analysts and former fighters express their dismay over Pacquiao’s loss – Boxing News
In an interesting turn of events, Timothy Bradley grabbed a split decision victory over Manny Pacquiao on past Saturday night. The unbeaten American was able to prolong his unbeaten streak from 28-0 to 29-0. He even won the WBO welterweight title from Bradley.
However, it seems like nobody, including fans, former fighters, journalists, writers, politicians and celebrities were impressed by Bradley’s performance. In fact, according to most of them, it was a one-sided bout and Pacquiao had clearly won.
Most of them called the decision a ‘robbery’ and ‘RIP BOXING’ was the trend of the day on Twitter. Rapper 50 Cents called boxing a ‘mess’. He added, “Man boxing is a mess right now [whatever you do] do not watch the rematch its fixed. both fighters are with
the same promoters [they're] just trying to get paid twice.”
Similarly, former fighter Oscar De La Hoya believed that Bradley should have given up the title and the match’s victory to Pacquiao, since he knew he had lost. In his words, “Bradley should have given the belt and announce victory to [Pacquiao] right after
the decision.”
Justin Timberlake, actor and singer, came up tweeting, “I cannot believe what I just saw... Please tell me they read that decision wrong... #Rigged.”
Similarly, Dane Cook, comedian, noted, “Somewhere in the not too distant future: A young child: "Daddy, what was boxing?,” remarking on boxing’s end.
With all of this, it is pretty evident that the outrage by the fans in the arena was not solely based on their dedication towards Pacquiao. This time, it is not an overreaction but a clear robbery, at least that is what most of them believe. If fighters
like Oscar De La Hoya, who are foes of Manny Pacquiao, believe Pac-man won then there certainly is weight in the claims. For now, the entire World Wide Web community is marking boxing’s death and an end of a sport. Some are even coming up with conspiracy theories,
which suggest that the match was fixed to make the rematch even more interesting. According to some reputable writers, if Pacquiao had won, the rematch would not have sold as much as it will sell now.
