Celestron NexStar 8 Special Edition

Two questions  - 

I have not run my telescope in a long time - but when I through the switch, the hand controller says initializing, then goes blank - nothing happens!!  What could it be?

Second item - how to I attached a 2" orion delectic diaganol to my Special Edition?  I need another part or something???
