So Ive been on Celexa 3 weeks now, and it's definitely helping, but I'm struggling to get/keep an errection. Will this go away the longer I'm on the med?

  1. You might try Wellbutrin it treats depression by acting on different neurotransmitters (dopamine and norepinephrine).  If anything people who take Wellbutrin report the opposite of your problem.  Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and your problem is VERY common.  Most folks have trouble achieving an o****m not just erectile dysfunction  - BUT- talk with our Dr. first.

  2. Definitely talk to your doctor.

I've been on Celexa for many years (for panic attacks) and fortunately have had no negative side effects but everyone reacts differently to these types of meds.  It is also possible, yes, that you may just need an adjustment phase.

I've had 2 friends who had to give up Paxil because they couldn't achieve orgasms, which is a potential side effect to that medication.  I was on Paxil was no problems other than that after a few years, I seemed to build up a tolerance to it and it stopped working.

So keep an open dialogue with your doctor, ask him/her how long you should give to see it this bad side effect passes, and if necessary, what other medications they might be able to switch you to.

    Good luck!
