Celia Oberholzer and Steven Zimmerman clinch 50m back-stroke titles: 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals
Day five of the 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals produced several scintillating swims in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, July 29.
The session of the meet conducted several races, where Celia Oberholzer of Powel Crosley won the Women’s 50m back-stroke crown and Steven Zimmerman of Countryside grabbed the Men’s 50m back-stroke title.
Initially, Oberholzer gave her best try in the Women’s 50m back-stroke meet and snatched the gold medal with a winning time of 30.20 seconds. Courtney Miller of Elkins secured the silver medal with an impressive time of 30.56 seconds, while Emily O’Neil
of West Monmouth earned the bronze medal in a time of 30.82 seconds.
Michelle Kim of Wyckoff wound up fourth in a time of 30.83 seconds, while Maggie Miller of Elkins settled fifth in 30.84 seconds. Danielle Bach of Wyckoff grabbed sixth spot in 30.95 seconds, whereas, Marie Chamberlain of Cape Cod finished seventh with a
time of 31.29 seconds. Kaylyn Murphy of Coffman was placed eighth in a time of 31.57 seconds.
In the Women’s 50m back-stroke B final meet, Gabriella Levine of Fanwood Scotch secured the top spot with a sterling time of 31.29 seconds. Natalie Rohr od South Family finished second in a time of 31.32 seconds, while Marianne Kahmann of Coffman rounded
out the top three on the podium with a time of 31.56 seconds.
Stephanie Moriarty of Wilton wound up fourth in 31.75 seconds, whereas, Hannah Stephenson of Triangle Area earned fifth place honours with a time of 31.79 seconds. Haley Dascenzo of Laurel Highlands settled sixth in a time of 31.87 seconds.
Noelle Klockner of West Monmouth snared the Women’s 50m back-stroke C final race with an impressive time of 31.67 seconds. Sierra Townsend of Door County finished second in 31.75 seconds, while Keely Lovern of l*****g was placed third in a time of 31.80
seconds.
In the Men’s 50m back-stroke final, Steven Zimmerman secured the golden crown with a winning time of 26.61 seconds, while Nic Graesser of Upper Main Line finished with silver in 26.63 seconds. Eric Forrester of Mon Valley settled for bronze in a time of
27.31 seconds.
In the Men’s 50m back-stroke B final, Taylor Adams of Wyckoff earned top spot with a time of 28.20 seconds. Dylan Cummings finished second in 28.38 seconds and Colin Heil of Anne Arundel settled third in a time of 28.65 seconds.
