if i have a 2 mp cell phone camera set at 640x480 resulution, and a 1.3 mp set at 640x480, is the quality of the 2 mp camera still better than the 1.3 mp camera? or do i have to have the resolution on the 2 mp set all the way up to the biggest one to be any different?

  1. The quality will be the same at 640x480 if the lenses and sensors are identical, aside from the number of pixels. It's unlikely that they are identical, though, so the quality of the pictures may still be different. The only good way to know would be to take pictures with both.

  2. You have to manually set the phone to its highest resolution setting to achieve the full 2 MP or 1.3 MP. If they are both set at 640x480, the quality will be the same in terms of pixels. However, 640x480 is only about 0.3 MP, so I would bump up the resolution for a better picture.
