I have Alltel service and wondering if it works in France? If not, are there rentals for roughly a week before I fly back to the states. Or just say s***w it and buy a Phone card?

  1. Your cell will not work! IF u had an unlocked phone ( buy a cheapie in line quad band) u can buy a pay as u go sim card for what ever country ur in,.That's the cheapest way to go if you have the phone. Altell is a CDMA network company! I switched to T mobil and they un loncked my phone for free oso I can use my own phone witha La Orange sim card! Check out Orange.com on line

  2. If you have a multiband phone, it can be used in Europe...I think you have to buy a sim card.  Call Alltell and check.  They should know.

You can rent a phone, just search rent cellphones europe, and you

should find something that will work for you.

If you don´t have time to do that, chuck it  and get a card.

  3. Don't rent a phone. That's really way the most expensive way to do it. Just buy a sim card locally.

If your phone is not compatible with the French network, you can buy a phone for about 30 euros.

Add another 20 for the sim card and some top up credit.

Still works out cheaper than renting.
