What states have a ban on driving and talking on cell phone? Ok if it is used with head phones. When are the people going to pay attention to driving and be more safe?

  2. There is no acceptable or okay reason for people to be talking on their cell phones while driving....even with a headset.Talking with someone and trying to make plans, order dinner, have a fight with your other half ...whatever ...takes the attention of the driver away from what they are doing and causes accidents more than you know.

There is nothing that important that can't wait until you get to where you are going to that is worth risking your life and the lives of others. If the call is that important to you then tell whoever's on the phone you will call them back and then pull over somewhere when it's safe to do and continue your conversation while sitting still.Think about this...what did you do or how did you handle something before they invented cell phones? If you're too young to have lived not knowing there was a time we did live without cell phones then you're too young to be driving and talking at the same time because you don't have enough driving experience to do both....especially texting someone!

  3. Well, the only state that I know [for sure] has this ban is Illinois. I don't know if there are other states that have the same ban but there most likely are. It usually is okay if you're using a headset, as long as there is only one earbud.

  4. 5 states (California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Washington), the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands have enacted jurisdiction-wide cell phone laws prohibiting driving while talking on handheld cell phones. Many other states ban cell phone use in specific situations.

17 states and the District of Columbia have special cell phone driving laws for novice drivers.

School bus drivers in 14 states and the District of Columbia are prohibited from all cell phone use when passengers are present, except for in emergencies.

In May of 2007, Washington became the first state to ban driving while texting for all drivers. New Jersey followed suit in November and a few other states are considering similar measures.

No state completely bans all types of cell phone use (handheld and hands-free) while driving.

Some states, such as Utah and New Hampshire, treat cell phone use as a larger "distracted driving" issue
