Cell phones on cruises?

i previously posted a question about cell phone service. if your phone says "cellular of the seas" while out at sea will you maintain signal your whole voyage?

  1. the reason to cruise is so you do not have to answer the phone.


  2. never heard of it;; we had sprint, and got to mexico

    and had no service.. have fun on your cruise

  3. acutally no.  not everywhere.  my last cruise I didn't have a single signal.  It all depends on how clear the skys are or where the ship is headed, most signals are strong when headed eastward.  But once your stationary (docked at a port), you'll get 'ok' reception.

    Is this something specific to your service carrier?  Which ship are you on?

    I would seriously doubt if you would be able to get a signal the whole time.  Of course, it depends on where you're sailing.  Satellites have a limited range.
