Question:

Cello Studies: Where to go from here?

I entered the orchestra program, to learn how to play the Cello, at sixth grade and continued on to 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.

I am versatile and talented, but sadly: very, very lazy and inconsistent.

Could someone provide me with a thorough course of action to polish my skill and blossom?

And don't be scared to be blunt. Harsh criticism just might be the wake-up call I need to become a good example for the other students in my group.

  1. I don't know what your skill level is. But you need to literally make a schedule (maybe on excel, I do that) and print it out and follow it. Metronome speeds, what pages of what pieces. Alternate different skills on different days. Times. Hour in the morning noon and night or however you want to do it. Don't let yourself off the hook. Listen to other players. Go to concerts. Keep yourself inspired. And dont' over practice cause hurting yoruself means you can't practice (I just did that and couldn't practice for a week!). E-mail me with any more questions you may have.
