verizon, sprint,t-mobile, and any other. I was wondering if an account gets sent to collections and has been there for awhile? do any of these services let you get a new contract with them, if even you don't clear the last account?

  1. If you want to start up a new account with the same company, you won't be able to until that last account is paid off.  Because your account went to collections, you would probably have to pay a deposit on the new account as well because your credit probably had some damage done.

If you want to switch to a new company, you don't have to have that other account paid off but you will probably have to pay a deposit.  Again because of the collections your credit score went down.  The less credit the higher the deposit.

  2. If you're in collections, it will show up on your credit report.  When you try to setup another account, this will show up.

If you're with the same carrier, I'd expect them to let you sign up if you clear up your previous balance plus leave a deposit.  If you go with a different carrier, I'd expect them to require a deposit before giving you service.

Maybe prepaid is what you should consider...
