“Celtic are the best in the country,” says Beram Kayal
Talking specifically in regard to their archrivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, the Israeli midfielder, Beram Kayal, insisted that Celtic are now the best team in the country; they have the best squad and they play the best football. Beram revealed his strong sense of confidence
in the team following a prolonged unbeaten run in the Scottish Premier League.
He said: "I am sure we can play the best football because we have the best squad and the best players in this country."
He even went as far as to say that the manager Neil Lennon has grown a team that could be well capable of achieving the treble, and winning a European title.
Although the Celtic star is now confident that his side will win the league, the Scottish side’s mediocre start to the season still leaves many in doubt as to whether the Celtics will be able to extend their run of 7 wins and a draw in the last eight matches.
Kayal has signed a new contract with the club and his allegiance to the manager is evident following his rather to-the-point blatant talk with the media yesterday. Many would say his way of talking is similar to his way on the field; no-nonsense and direct.
Efficient.
Celtic face Atletico Madrid tonight in a Europa League clash that is sure to test the Israeli’s persevering nature. The Scottish side could also benefit from the return of Scott Brown, however the skipper hasn’t finalized an extension to his contract just
yet.
In September, Neil Lennon’s side lost to Atletico in the reverse fixture 2-0 following an early goal from the Spaniards. The Scottish side is favourite to win tonight, though, owing to Atletico’s abysmal run lately in the season, winning just two of their
last nine games.
“When we play at Celtic Park the fans give everybody energy and power. We know Atletico are a big team in Europe with a lot of world-class players but we want to beat them to have a chance of continue in Europe this season,” said Kayal.
Celtic just need four more points from their remaining games to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament, a feat which could boost the Scots’ already surging confidence following Saturday’s 5-0 home win over St Mirren. They’re still four points
behind league leaders, Rangers, but Kayal believes it won’t be long before Celtic turn the tables and go on to win the league.
Atletico are 11th in the Primera Liga, having lost 4-1 to Real Madrid at the weekend.
French side Rennes currently sit bottom in Group I, with Celtic sitting third with 5 points. Atletico and Udinese are first and second respectively, with 7 points each.
