Celtic boss not worried about future

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says that he is not worried about his long-term future as manager of the club.

Lennon, a former midfielder with the club, has lost just one league game since he took over from the sacked Tony Mowbray back in March.

His side is just a single point behind defending Scottish Premier League champions Rangers in the standings, but Celtic have a superior goal difference following their 9-0 mauling of Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Saturday, 6 November.

After a series of good results last term following his appointment as caretaker coach, Lennon was handed the job on a permanent basis over the summer, but was only given a one-year contract.

However, the Northern Irishman is not concerned over his current contract situation. He told reporters, "That will be up to the board. There was work to be done and we've made decent progress in that respect."
Lennon, 39, added that he believes his side is slowly coming together after a mass squad overhaul over the summer, but he said that he is keen to gain experience as the manager before making any firm decision on his future at the club.
He told reporters, "We are still a fair bit off from where we want to be. Obviously it was a bit of a gamble for the club to put me in charge with relatively little managerial experience, so I am grateful to them for that.

"But as long as we keep making progress I know when the time will come and hopefully (the board) will come to me instead of me going to them."

Celtic’s only defeat of the season came against their Old Firm rivals Rangers when the sides met at Celtic Park on 24 October.
Rangers emerged 3-1 victors through a Glenn Loovens own goal and two strikes by Kenny Miller after Gary Hooper had given the Hoops the lead.
