Celtic boss pleased with late win over St Mirren
Celtic manager Neil Lennon revealed that he is over the moon with his side's win over St Mirren in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday 14 November.
The game at St Mirren Park had looked to be heading for a goalless stalemate when Celtic striker Gary Hooper netted a winning goal deep into injury time, putting an end to the well-organised Saints side's hopes of holding the SPL giants to a draw.
Hooper's eighth league goal of the season allowed Celtic to remain one point behind defending champions, Rangers, at the top of the table.
As a result, Lennon was delighted with the victory. He revealed that he remained confident of taking all three points back to Glasgow after a frustrating first half, hailing Shaun Maloney and Ki Sung-Yeung as 'world class'.
He told reporters, "Of course we deserved to win, we were brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Even at half-time I wasn't ranting and raving, but I thought we could have done a bit better in the final third. We had control of the game and made St Mirren chase the
ball so that showed in the latter part of the game when we came on really strong.
"I wouldn't have been disappointed to draw the game as I would have held my hands up and said it wasn't going to be our day today. Daryl Murphy gave us something when he came on, but I thought Maloney and Ki were world class."
The win followed on the back of a defeat to Heart of Midlothian on Wednesday 14 November, and Lennon was pleased to have returned to their winning ways quickly.
He added, "I'm delighted with the three points and delighted with the three points after Wednesday."
