Celtic defender backs club to win title despite draw
Celtic right-back Cha Du-Ri insists that his club can still reclaim the Scottish Premier League title despite suffering a setback in the 1-1 draw with Dundee United on Saturday 20 November.
The Hoops had looked on course to pick up all three points from the encounter at Celtic Park when in-form striker Gary Hooper put them in front after 23 minutes. However, United keeper Dusan Pernis performed admirably to keep the Celtic attack at bay for
the rest of the first half.
After the interval, Neil Lennon's men were outclassed by a resurgent United side, who grabbed a point through Sean Dillon's header in the fourth minute of injury time.
The result means that Celtic are now three points behind defending champions Rangers after the Ibrox club beat Kilmarnock 3-2 a Rugby Park over the weekend.
However, there are still 24 games of the season left to play and Du-Ri is confident Celtic can win the title for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
He told reporters: "The difference is only three points and we still have three more games against Rangers so everything is open. We have a good team and play good football. I'm sure we will win the championship. We are disappointed with the draw against
United but need to move on."
Meanwhile, the South Korea international is hoping to remain with the club long enough to face Rangers in the second Old Firm clash of the season on 2 January.
Du-Ri and team-mate Ki Sung Yeung are likely to take part in the Asia Cup with their country and, while South Korea can remove the pair from the Hoops after the 26 December match with St Johnstone, Du-Ri is hoping to stay in Scotland a little longer.
He added: "I hope we can go to the Asia Cup a bit later, after the Rangers game."
