The manager of the Celtic football team Neil Lennon is against the extension of the current football season. He has insisted that his team will play more matches just to repel the chances of season’s extension. Lennon has urged that his team will play four
matches in eight days just to avoid the extension of the Premier League season.
In a very recent interview, the former skipper of the Celtic football team Neil Lennon expressed his thoughts about the matter while talking to the media that it is nonsense to prolong the season. He continued that if his team will have to play four games
in a week than he will play the matches just to avoid the chances of extension of the Premier League season.
It is to be notified that the Scottish Premier League had given an idea of top four teams’ play-offs system. According to Lennon, the proposal of the play-offs does not make sense and there should be another way to resolve the issue. Moreover, it is also
to be remembered that the Scottish Premier League chiefs have not ruled out the chances of prolonging the season yet but the boss of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Walter Smith has also expressed his thoughts that he is against the idea of Scottish Premier League to extend
the season just because of the freezing weather conditions.
Neil Lennon said that all the clubs should discuss the matter together as the extension of the season might affect the other football tournaments as well. He continued that more matches in lesser days might get a little hectic for the players but on the
other hand, it will make the tournament a bit more interesting as well.
While talking about the Celtic team the 39-year-old Lennon told that his team is very excited about the tournament and the best thing about his team is that it is a squad of fresh players who are always ready to give their best.
While talking about the upcoming matches of the event the Celtic manager said that it will be more exciting to see his team’s reaction for playing four crucial matches in a week. He continued that his team is ready for a bigger challenge and he is very hopeful
for a better performance by the Celtic team in the upcoming matches.
On the other hand, the chairperson of the Dundee football club Stephen Thompson has said that he will fully support the idea of the play-off of the SPL. It is to be notified that the acceptance of the proposal by the SPL chiefs will further result in a final
match in the end of the season to decide the absolute winner of the event no matter which team had end at the top of the table.
Lennon has considered the proposal as one of the worst ideas he had ever heard. He said that it is not at all fair to organise a final match just to declare the winner of the championship trophy. He continued that to him the proposal is totally idiotic and
he does not want to even think about it anymore. Later Lennon told that the gap between the matches is too huge so the problem can be solved by shortening the day’s gap between the matches.
Neil said that the play-off matches might create some interest in the public but this is not the right way to declare the winner of the event. He added that all the teams are performing quite well and the top two most consistent teams will qualify for the
European Champions League and the play-off matches is not the right way to select the top teams for the European Champion.
