  1. Excellent,just look around you.

  2. Good mostly, we are the most successful economicaly in Europe at present but it has also brought its problems... The rate of inflation has sky rocketed as a result of our success, take the price of property for example, most young people cannot afford to buy their own homes now , rent is also gone through the roof, Immigration has increased ten fold and has put pressure on the economy...Those like me who were lucky to buy our home at the right time are the winners , 10 years ago I paid 64,000 euro for my 2 bedroom Apt now its worth 300,000 euro ... Ireland is now one of the richest countries in the World today yet most young people cannot buy their own home so what does that tell you...

Dont expect too many answers to your question because very few Irish use this Q&A,  its mostly Americans and English

  3. Good....the economy was amazing over the past few years

HOWEVER....its slowing down so much now......the dollar is weak  against the euro (which is hitting the tourist industry hard)....unemployment is rising

Most importantly, in my opinion, our wealth has atracted literally thousands of imigrants who are threatening our economy and our heritage.

I dont mean to sound racist (but im sick of al this "political-correctness at the same time)

Our schools/jobs/social welfare cant cope with all the extra people (there are 250,000 Polish in Ireland now, that is more than the combined population of BOTH Roscommon and Letrim!)

House prices are dropping because of over construction and now......(at one stage 90,000 houses a year were being built)

And the worst thing? When the economy s sucked dry, all these foreign people are going to trek off back to where they came from.....countries which the EU have nicely fixed up for them

And us? We'll be wrecked, and back where we started

(oh and im from Wicklow!) ;)

  4. Mainly good in my opinion. Ireland is now a very rich country but there are of course some problems caused by the rapid rate of economic growth. The Church has lost its grip but some people especially the young have no sense of spiritual direction, consequently drink and drugs have crept in and the suicide rate is one of the highest in Europe among teenagers.
