Celtics defeat Emporio Armani Milano, Bobcats cruise past Wizards – NBA Round-up
Boston Celtics Vs Emporio Armani Milano
The Boston Celtics ended their European tour in a convincing fashion by defeating the Italian basketball club, Emporio Armani Milano, in an exhibition game in Milan on Sunday night. The Celtics had a lot to celebrate about on the night, as their new acquisitions Jeff Green, Courtney Lee and Jason Terry all scored in double figures to hand them an easy and convincing 105-75 victory.
Rajon Rondo scored 17 points and 6 assists for the Celtics, where as Lee and Terry added 11 points. Jeff Green came off the bench to score 17 points, going 3 of 3 from three point range. Paul Pierce added 14 points while Kevin Garnett failed to put any score on the board after playing almost twelve and a half minutes.
The Italian side gave good competition to the Celtics in the first period, matching play for play and not allowing them to make a run for the lead. The Celtics only led 34-31 at the end of the first period. However, they picked up the pace of the game in the second period and went on to dominate the next 24 minutes of the game, leading by 81-59 at the end of the third period. By that time, the fate of the game had already been decided and the Celtics went on to secure a comfortable victory.
It was a good practice for the Celtics ahead of their season opener, as it gave them an opportunity to play with their three new players and develop some team chemistry. The Celtics shot 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from three point range for the night, while Milan only managed to score 31.3 percent from the field and 30 percent from the distance.
Washington Wizards Vs Charlotte Bobcats
The Charlotte Bobcats, after finishing with the worst win loss record in NBA history last season, know that they have a lot to prove in the upcoming season. And they got into a good rhythm early on by defeating the Washington Wizards 100-88 in their preseason opener on Sunday night.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the overall number 2 pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, played his first NBA game for the Bobcats, and scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Gerald Henderson scored a game high 19 points and 4 rebounds, while Byron Mullens scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the Bobcats. Ramon Sessions scored 14 points and 5 assists while Ben Gordon also 16 points for the Bobcats coming off the bench.
Charlotte was in rhythm right from the start of the game, and dominated the game for the first two periods by outscoring the Wizards and taking a 56-42 lead at halftime, as the Wizards seemed to have no answer to the strengthened attack of the Bobcats. Washington attempted their best to come back into the game and made matters exciting when they cut the lead down to 6 points with a little over three minutes left in the game. However, the Bobcats stars took over and ensured a victory for the team, winning 100-88 in the end.
Bradley Beal and Martell Webster both came off the bench to score 18 points each for the Wizards, while Kevin Seraphin added 11 points and 4 rebounds. Charlotte shot 45.1 percent from the field where as Washington shot 33.3 percent from the same distance.
