Question:

Centerpieces for an outside June wedding???

I'm getting married 6/20/2009. It will be an outside garden wedding. My colors are black and hot pink, almost a fuchsia. At David's Bridal, they refer to the color as Watermelon, if that helps at all. I would like to maybe do something with a candle and/or maybe some flowers. Any ideas???

  1. Your candles shouldn't be as bright pink as the dresses, try more of a blush pink or a soft pink. This will brighten the lawn, but also not be too blinding. Flowers should be light pink and dark pink, even white pussywillows would be nice, because they have black stems.

  2. The whole problem I see with having flower centerpieces in a garden setting is that you are going to attract bees to the tables. Many people do have a problem with either allergies or just not liking them. Granted the bees will be in the garden itself, but I wouldn't draw them in to the seating area if I could avoid it.

Consider exotic greenery or various ivys as garlands, hang pink 'crystals' from a craft store throughout the venue. Hot pink feathers for your centerpieces with the hurricane lamps and black unscented candles (hit the Halloween sales!), use pink lighting (either string lights and/or up lighting if you are using a tent with side walls).

  3. If its a june wedding, and outside. I would see no point in candles at all. Unless it is at night. Then I would go with the persons answer about the vase with flowers and a candle. Otherwise for the wedding I would just do some pretty flowers. and if the reception is outside as well then find some inexpensive vases that go with your wedding colors. toss in the flowers.. and bam.. done!

  4. candles are great outdoors if they are deep holders so they od not blow out in a breeze

best bet would be glass bowls with floating candles and in the water place flowers in the water

  5. Well, you can circle a hurricane glass with flowers and place a candle inside....that way the candle will not blow out if it's at all windy!  Best of Luck to you.

  6. Here is something that is cute, simple and affordable. All you would have to do is get some hot pink gerbera daisies or another type of hot pink flower and it would look very nice:

Or, maybe something like this - but just add a pink flower instead of the red one used in the picture:

  7. check out real simple weddings. I got a copy from Barnes and Noble and it seriously had tons of stuff in it, including this aisle runner idea with candles in a paper bag for an outside wedding, just gorgeous.

  8. I'm going to go to the opposite extreme then the others. It's summer so it's supposed to be bold and fun! I suggest something like this!

  9. Stargazer lilies - they are white and have accents of fuschia and black. Plus they'll bring in some of the garden theme.

Another cool idea would be to use black tableclothes, scatter fuschia colored marbles (those flat ones from michaels or walmart), and then cut the stems off of the flowers and arrange them throughout the pebbles. Then light votives in white...

For the center, a simple vase with 2 or 3 flowers  would look awesome and fill the vase with the same scattered marbles.

You could also use white plates and then a fuschia napkin with a stargazer (or whatever flower) on top of the napkin.

    I love that color combination.

  10. A few ideas....first of all check out stylemepretty.com. They have FANTASTIC and original ideas.

Do you want it simple, elegant, edgy, extravagant? What are you looking for?

For my wedding I took a glass bowl and put some colored rocks and the bottom (black?), then tied a piece of wire around a rock, and the other end to a black and white photo of us...filled it with water (photos will hold for around 10 hours in water with no damage) and then put flowers on top (watermelon colored?). They are unique, but still look fantastic!

Since I decided to answer this question, I might as well throw a line out there for the woman who photographed my wedding...she is FANTASTIC and travels all over the world to do weddings, and she is very reasonably priced. She did my wedding and I was SO happy with the photographs...check her out at www.noeyehasseen.com

    Hope this helps!
