Question:

Centerpieces for wedding?

I have an idea for centerpieces...let me explain it.

I want to use black/white pictures of my bridal party and my fiance and me on the tables. I will cover them with glass squares and place 2-3 white pillar candles on top and spread some lavender rose petals on the tables.

I can see this all in my head but I don't know if it will actually work.

Let me know what you think please. I'm also open to any other ideas!

Thanks!

  1. I like the idea quite a bit, but I wouldn't include the wedding party. As a guest I really wouldn't be interested in the wedding party, especailly because I might not know all of them. Also, since you have to include so many people the picture would probably be pulled back a bit and less detailed then a close up shot of you and your fiance.

  2. I assume you mean that the photos won't be in frames ... that sounds great (if I'm picturing it correctly). I would suggest using photos of you and your fiance, but not the whole wedding party. It's not really about them on your wedding day.

I'm a big believer in simple centerpieces. There is no need to overdo it, especially when they will just be dismantled and carted off by partygoers anyway. I think you have a great plan. And depending on how much time you have ... take your time! Buy one of everything and try it out to see how it looks! If it looks bad, then return some part of it, or redo another part and start all over. Just don't buy a set for every table until you're sure.

  3. being a photographer, I love the idea of using pictures in anything, but I think that putting the candles over top of the pictures will 1. completely cover the pics and people won't be able to see them, 2. take away from the picture and 3. make it look a little cluttered.

If you really want candles, flower petals and pics why don't you use several SMALL picture frames (you can get them at most craft stores and wal-mart) in different designs, colors, etc and then put a few of them at each table (on different sides) or use them as place cards.

  4. I was to a wedding that had small glass bowls with shiny stones in it plus a tea candle in the middle, very nice.

  5. Hi.  You mean you will place these FLAT on the table...covered with a glass....and then the candles on top of that?

    Hmmm......

It kind of defeats the purpose of the pictures if they are going to be covered up with pillar candles.

I like the idea of using pictures....but placed upright in a photo frame or a cube with candles NEXT to it...not on top of them.

Also...I would use pictures of you and your fiance only.  Obviously, the bridal party are people that you care about, but your guests won't necessarily want to look at those photos.
