Question:

Central AC Fan Will not Start?

I have a weatherking ac compressor outside the house and an Aprilair thermostat. Recently the AC stopped working. When I set the thermostat below the current temp I hear a click but the fan and AC doesnt start. I tried changing the setting to heat and turning the temp up but again the heat and the fan doesnt start. When I change the fan setting from auto to on, again nothing.

Any one have an idea what to check?

Thanks

  1. Breakers may appear to be on but be tripped.Turn the one to the aircond. off then back on.

  2. Have you checked your breaker box for a flipped breaker?

  3. It very well could be the blower motor has went out.First remove the t-stat and manually jumper R to G and see if the fan starts just to eliminate it as being the problem.I don't think it is though if you are hearing a click.

Also see if the blower motor is super hot.An indication that it is stuck and off on internal overload.

  4. Yes, a new fan. Your appears to have died. It may be a relay but only a tech will be able to tell you for sure.

  5. try rewiring it
