Our A/C hasn't really been cooling off the house. It runs for hours on end and keeps it mildly warm (we have a three year old home and three year old A/C) Today I realized that even though the air conditioning was running in the house, went I went outside the fan in the unit was not blowing, just standing still. What do you think could be wrong with it?

  1. It sounds like it needs servicing and/or freon.  When an a/c is low on freon, it tends to freeze up on the outside while the inside unit continues to run due to it being set by temperature.  You need to call a qualified electrician to service your unit.

  2. Check to make sure the condenser is powered.Aside from that,it could be a bad contactor, bad fan motor,t-stat issue, bad capacitor, open wire connection,or ants in contactor. You can also check the last one yourself.Good luck.

  3. you need to check the thermostat again and make sure it on cold and not the fan setting, check the breaker to be sure it not trip, if the outside fan still will not come on its time to call a repair man, good luck.
