Central Districts Stags from New Zealand - Youngsters expected to shine in Champions League T20 in South Africa
A lot has been said about the Indian Premier League which has generated some quality youngsters across the world in T20 cricket. Quite similarly, the Champion League T20 includes top teams from the IPL along with international teams from around the world.
Cricketing nations such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and New Zealand are gaining rapidly as CLT20 gives these countries the perfect platform to discover new talent for their countries. Jamie How, the captain of the Central Districts Stags, believed that CLT20 was a perfect opportunity for young players to prove their mettle in this international event.
How said, “It gives them the chance to show what they're made of on the international scene and perhaps if they perform well, they might even have a chance of being picked up for one of the IPL teams. Both individually and as a team, we have a chance to pit our skills against the world's best, which is a very exciting prospect.”
Central Districts Stags (CDS) is a New Zealand based first-class cricket team, which picks its team from 8 different individual district associations. These include Hawke’s Bay, Horowhenua-Kapiti, Manawatu, Marlborough, Nelson, Taranaki, Wairarapa and Wanganui. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 Region, and two regions from South Island. Mathew Sinclair, George Worker, Jacob Oram, Ross Taylor and Captain Jamie How have all been produced by this club.
The Stags are bursting with local talent and are raring to go. The team looks like a mighty talented lot with plenty of heart and passion for the game. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 Aces in the finals to make it to this years’ CLT20.
Stags batsmen Peter Ingram and Mathew Sinclair are two skilful and exciting cricketers who were the top two run scorers for their team in the HRV Cup 2010. Skipper Jamie How is a brilliant batsman and has given his team some solid opening stands in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s domestic circuit. His ability to find gaps at regular intervals and score runs with an aggressive strike rate of 131 runs per 100 balls makes him a wonderful prospect for T20 cricket.
Medium pacers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-McClenaghan-c1975 lead the bowling attack. Quite similar to New Zealand’s national team where medium pace bowlers make the ball jag around on seaming tracks, these two Stags bowlers fall in the same category. Mason is a veteran Kiwi domestic cricketer and at the age of 36, this medium pacer has taken 13 wickets in just 11 T20 games till date.
Jacob Oram and Ross Taylor will surely be missed as Oram is suffering from an injury and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brendon-Diamanti-c1193, Ben Wheeler and Seth Rance in the squad, the Stags will overcome their short-comings.
The Stags skipper also believes that his young side would enjoy playing in an international tournament which will be a lot of fun for his young side. How says, “It's a wonderful experience for the younger guys who haven't been here, because it's a great country to tour. There are really great cricket facilities and exciting places off the field. And we're doing quite a bit of travelling - we play in Centurion, Durban and Port Elizabeth - so we'll see quite a bit of the country.”
