Central a/c. a/c started blowing hot after kids accidentally switched fan to on instead of auto.

Question

a/c started blowing hot after kids accidentally switched fan to on instead of auto. Now back on auto, compressor is coming on outside (making louder noise that the other unit) but still blowing hot air. Last month passed annual check up (including louder noise) and freon was full.
