Central air conditioner. My air condition unit is 4 years old. The house isn't getting cold

My air condition unit is 4 years old. The house isn't getting cold anymore. I changed the reading on the thermastat to 70 but the house is at 80. I hear the furnace running but it not getting cold. The furnance sounds louder now. What broke?
