My husband sprayed engine degreaser on the coils of our air conditioner to clean it. Now we cannot get rid of the smell. I think I have tried everything, but there has to be something to get rid of this smell. Any suggestions are so appreciated!

  1. Try using a natural orange oil based cleaner to remove the engine degreaser from the coils. Also replace the filters, and run the fan in the on position for a few hours

  2. Engine degreaser will eventually evaporate. I would try something like Fantastic, because it wont foam up. You need something that also won't be effected by water. Try Fantastic. I love the stuff.

  3. HUMMM my other half has done HVAC for 35 years and they make a coil cleaner and it is not engine degreaser? what made him think that was the solution> ICK that stuff smells awful.(as you already know)  I think that engine degreaser is actually a petrolium based product and maybe dawn dish washing liquid to wash it of with or greasd lightning cleaner. or how about making a paste out of baking soda slapping it on and scrubbing and rinse with cool clean water.

    Best if luck
