  1. The refrigerant lines that run from the outside unit to the coil on the inside?  Two copper lines that have insulation covering one of them?

I've seen contractors do that a lot on new installs or when replacement of the lines is needed. Doesn't look good but that is usually the way it's done.

Here is a link to one cover system. I've never seen these before and all of my HVAC books say don't cover or enclose the lines  all but hey what do those guys know. athttp://www.mrslim.com/UploadedFiles/Reso...

  2. call to proffesionals

  3. That is the normal way to install micro bore pipes. If it is for the Council, then this is how they want t*t done in their specification to the installers. To install the pipes into the wall would mean a lot of heat loss and higher gas bills for you.

  4. Yes this is standard practice to surface mount these pipes. Wraggling or chasing walls to put any kind of water pipes in is a big mistake and should be avoided at all costs. What would happen if one of the pipes burst? You can get pipe sleeves to cover the copper and if fitted correctly will look ok..

I take it that these pipes are to the radiators and boiler. The boiler will most probably have a gas supply to it as well so please do not tamper with it.

  5. Yes it is right but they should have put plastic capping over them. Box shaped things.

  6. Now that the installation is complete a clerk of works will come to inspect the job and to list any snagging work that will have to be done.Tell him you are not happy with the standard of the pipe trunking and want it sorted. If it is to such a poor standard then he will insist that the contractor returns to repair it.
