Owned by et al, Gary Finder, American Racing Stables and Bongo Racing Stables, the Kentucky bred 3-year-old gelding, Centralinteligence, on the back of couple of good performances is pointed toward the Grade 1, $300,000 Malibu Stakes held at Santa Anita Park on the opening day of the meet 26 December, 2011, over a distance of seven furlongs on dirt as the event will be exclusive for 3-year-old males.
Three months back, Centralinteligence, was entered in an allowance race over the Santa Anita’s new conventional dirt main track, over a distance of six furlongs on 30 September, 2011, under jockey Patrick Valenzuela.
The son of Smarty Jones, out of mare Shootforthestars by Seattle Slew, Centralinteligence grabbed the opportunity and defeated Master Chef in second and Runflatout in third, while topped the six furlong distance in 1 minute and 8.19 seconds.
The gelding is now exiting a second place finish in a six and a half furlong long allowance test at Hollywood Park’s cushion track on 27 November, 2011, under jockey Joel Rosario, while Smash won the race and covered the distance in 1 minute and 14.79 seconds as Indian Winter finished third.
The only unplaced finish Centralinteligence has in his brief career was in an allowance claimer at Del Mar on 13 August, 2011, over a distance of 1 1/16 miles. Over the synthetic surface, Centralinteligence suffered the worst defeat of his career when he finished seventh to winner Achak.
Centralinteligence broke his maiden at second asking at Hollywood Park over its synthetic surface at about six and a half furlongs on 16 July, 2011, where he defeated Whipstock and Phantom Lover in the deep stretch, who finished second and third, respectively, while Centralinteligence covered the distance in 1 minute and 16.05 seconds.
Probable’s for the Malibu Stakes is the ever so threatening, the Bob Baffert trained The Factor and the Steven Asmussen trained Wine Police, who turned in a work of five furlongs ahead of the Malibu Stakes on Santa Anita’s fast main track. Covered the distance in 1 minute and 1.40 seconds.
Also for Asmussen, Rothko worked for the Malibu Stakes, who went five furlongs in 59.80 seconds, and Asmussen's third for the Malibu is, Light up the Score.
