Atletico Madrid are currently joint leaders of La Liga with Barcelona as they have won six of their seven league games so far and are tipped to win the Europa League again this season.
Atletico Madrid President, Enrique Cerezo, strongly believes that his club can do double this year as they have done it several times before.
It is not a surprise, given Atletico’s major improvement in La Liga. They have so far won six out of their seven La Liga games and are now level on points with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 at the top.
Atletico have also enjoyed success in the Europa League recently and are again considered the favourites to win the tournament this season .
“We are double specialists,” Cerezo exclaimed. “We did one in 2012, one in 2010, and one in 1996 also, so it is not a strange word for Atletico.
When asked about the hegemony of Barca and Real in La Liga and whether small and lesser outfits can seriously contend for the title, the president said that anyone can make an impact and there are teams such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863, Malaga and Atletico that are capable
of upsetting the current established order.
“In football there are no small enemies, anyone can play and this is being shown continuously. I really think that there are several teams in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, not just Atletico that can join the elite of Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
He described the rumours regarding the imminent exit of their target man, Falcao, as baseless and reassured the fans and the club that Falcao is going nowhere and that he is happy with the club and will be staying with Atletico until his contract expires.
“Falcao is an Atletico Madrid player; he currently has a contract for this year and three more. We are delighted with him, he is delighted with us, and anything else is assumptions.
Atletico Madrid will travel to Real Sociedad on October 21st and we will see if they can keep their recent form and resurgence intact in La Liga.
