Certificate of singleness.?

Im going to petition my fiancee.im a citizen 39 yo.and single. they were asking for proof of singlenessfrom both of us.where can i get that here in the U.S.?do i need to get a letter from the atty. saying that im single and never been married and have it notirized?maybe someone here can provide some advice on what should i do.thanks

Are you sure that you need proof of singleness?  I know that if you were previously married, you have to submit either a divorce document or a death certificate for your former spouse as proof that you are currently single.  But if you've never been married I don't think you have to submit anything.  Ask a lawyer to be sure, but I don't think you have to.

    Look at part 5 of the general instructions (starts at the very end of page 2 and continues on next page) where it lists what you need to prove that you can legally marry.  There you'll see that it asks for proof that you're single only if you've been married before.
