Question:

Certified First Responder in California?

What exactly is a Certified First Responder. Do they get paid? Are there volunteer programs? What training is required? Facts such as that.

Also, I've heard that volunteer Certified First Responders are able to install emergency lights to there vehicle such as a fire truck has, not amber colored lights, but red, blue, and white, and that you are actually just volunteering your time, but get paid a small amount for responding to an incident. Is this true?

Do CFRs carry radios with communications to a dispatch center, or just scanners from RadioShack?

I'll take all the information I can get out of anyone who knows anything.

Thanx!

  1. You have to take your CPR classes.  You could get paid.  Go all the way and become an EMT.   Go to the Fire Station and talk to them to find out the shortest route.... you don't need school training.  They will train you on the job.
