Question:

Certified Scuba Diver~ What Is It like to take a Scuba Excursion?

I am a certified Open Water Diver. I haven't taken the plunge since my certification 3 years ago. (I lost my diving buddy). At this time I do not have a diving buddy and would like to dive in Grand Cayman or Cozumel when I visit in January on my cruise. I'm kinda afraid of being w/o a trusting buddy. Can I really trust the diving excursion divemasters to take care of me & make sure I feel comfortable? What is it like? Or should I just take a beginner excursion? Im sure everything will be fine & I do want to dive more than 10 or 20 feet and be able to see everything.

  1. Your local dive shop should be able to run you through a 1 day "refresher" scuba course.

Once you reach your excursion, usually there are several people on board and the ship divemaster will perhaps pair you up with another loner, or add you as a 3rd. While "buddy diving" is stressed in open water you should always be able to rely on yourself if anything goes wrong.

  2. if your realy nervous, then you should take the beginner so you dont have a panic attack
