Certified bank check???

My boyfriend is getting a certifed bank check from his grandfather tomorrow for $1500. If he than puts it into his account tomorrow when will he be able to take the money out?

I would not say that the check is as good as cash but I assume the bank would have no problem cashing the check as long as he as a good relationship with the bank.

Yes, a certified check is cash.  Make sure he does it through a bank teller and not the machine as the machine has no way of verifying what went into it and may hold items for that large amount.

no all a certified chq is is a guaranteed chq its still got to go through the clearing cycle b4 it can be used.

No, he will have to deposit the check and wait for at least a 7 day holding period.  The bank may allow immediate access to $100.

There are many check scams out there, including certified checks.  Unless your boyfriend receives these certified checks from his grandfather on a regular basis, they will put a hold on the funds.  The hold could even be 2 weeks.
