Cervix dilation?????????

Question

Where can I find a chart of an actual dialation of the cervix, on the internet? Or does anyone know how many cm you are if you can get 2 fingers in your cervix??

One additional thought.  If you end up being very late, and are not dilating properly, even though you have been in hard labor for a long time, please make sure they check your cervix, if you have had other children.  

They damaged my cervix when they delivered my first child, and I almost lost my second because they did not realize my cervix was paralyzed.  I could not dilate the 6 centimeters that they were looking for, so I ended up carrying my child for days while I was in labor, but would not dilate.  They did not even put me on the monitor, and kept telling me it must be false labor, even though my stomach was turning blue from my son kicking to get out.  I never did dilate any more than 2 1/2 centimeters.  They had to give me a last minute episiotomy instead of giving me a cesarean, which should have happened 2-3 weeks earlier.  My son was born the same night 8lbs. 12 oz. and purple from lack of oxygen

My doctor had been out of town the prior month.  He said that had I not insisted on staying in the hospital that night, another day would have been fatal to my child.

A cm is about a half-inch. So your fingertip is probably about one cm.  So if you're getting 2 fingers in then you're probably 2cm dilated.

You can be dilated at that level for a long time before anything happens, so be careful, you don't want to give yourself an infection.
