Question:

Cervix open at 14 Weeks pregnant?

Today I found out the my cervix is dilating. I'm about 14 weeks and my doctor says this is abnormal. Also that she could see the water bag when she examined my cervix. My question is what should I do? Should I get a stitch in my cervix even though she says the doc can accidentally brake the water. Or should I be on strict bed rest and see what happens? I can't afford not to work but I want to have the baby. There is still a chance baby wont make it cause it's already visible through my cervix. Should I chance it?

  1. Wow, I would really talk to the doctor or the hospital about this. I would hate to be on bed rest from 14weeks but if i had to to save my baby i would.

  2. u should go on bedrest.but u cant really get up AT ALL.dont risk it if u really want this baby.

  3. I have seen similar situations on Birth Day (on Discovery Health) where the cervix dilates early and they usually put in a stitch to try to prevent it from opening any more. It seems to be a good idea from what I have seen, but I am sure they wouldn't show the bad parts on tv. I would first go with the strict bedrest and make sure they pay close attention to your cervix, and get a stitch if absolutely needed. Good luck.  :)

  4. what did your doctor advise? did she say that despite the chance for breaking the water you should try the cerclage? if she did, i would. it doesn't sound like bed rest would really be enough, at 14 weeks its a pretty serious problem and there isn't much they can do besides a cerclage, and you'd be lucky for that to work. it just depends on whether you want to go through the ordeal even if there is still a big chance the baby won't make it.

i wish you the best, only you can make the right decision for yourself.

  5. I am sorry for you.  What does your doctor suggest?  I would look and every possible option and pray on it.  Talk to family and you decide what you feel is best.  Good luck to you.  I wish you the best.
