Azpilicueta’s employers are in heaps of financial troubles and are in dire need of cash. Marseille’s sporting director Jose Anigo stated earlier this month that the club need to sell few players before buying new ones.
Chelsea are reportedly keen to take advantage of Les Phoceens’ financial woes and want to acquire the services of the highly-rated full-back before the start of the next season.
However, the Spaniard has refused to indulge into the rumour mill and has stated that his only concern at the moment is to win a gold medal with Spain.
Azpilicueta, who has arrived in London ahead of the Games, admitted that he is aware of the fact that he is being linked with a switch to the Champions League winner but stated that he is calm about his future.
“I have heard the news in recent days,” he told reporters.
The former Osasuna player said that he is still a Marseille player at the moment and anything regarding his future can wait until after the Olympics.
“It says that I will move from Marseille, but I am calm about my future,” added the 22-year-old.
The right-back reiterated his desire to help Spain win the gold medal in London, to cap a tremendous year for Spain, who won Euro 2012 in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 along with the Under-19 European Championship.
“At the moment I am only focused on my work with the Spanish team and for the Games in London. My dream is to win the gold medal.”
Cesar Azpilicueta joined the Ligue outfit in 2010 from Osasuna for a fee believed to be in the region of 7 million Euros. The Spaniard managed to make 30 appearances for the French club last season and Marseille would be hoping to hold onto one of their
best players.
However, it is expected that a tempting offer from the cash-laden English Premier League club would be enough to lure away the talented youngster from Stade Velodrome.
