Cesar Chavez Jr. hoping to take on Miguel Cotto, Sergio Martinez in 2012 – Boxing news
The undefeated Mexican professional boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is willing to take on 30-year-old, Miguel ‘Junito’ Cotto and the current WBC Diamond and Ring World Middleweight Champion, Sergio Gabriel Martinez as his competitors in 2012.
The current WBC Middleweight Champion, Cesar ‘La Leyenda Continua’ Chavez Jr. won his last 12-round fight against Sebastian Zbik on June 4, 2011 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California.
The 25-year-old, Cesar ‘The Legend Goes on’ Chavez Jr., who fights at Middleweight, Light Middleweight, Welterweight, Light Welterweight, Lightweight and Super Featherweight divisions, received his WBC Middleweight belt from WBC president Jose Suleiman.
Chavez fought 45 of his total fights of which he won 43 competitive bouts including 30 knockout victories with one draw in his professional boxing career.
Julio Chavez Jr. said, “I am very proud to have earned this title and will work very hard to keep it for a long time. I remember going with my dad to this ceremonies when he won world title and was very proud of him. Today is my turn and I can find the words
to tell you what a great feeling this is. I am very proud to be the first Mexican to win this. But I do not want to stop here.”
Talking about his next possible opponent Julio Chavez said that firstly, he is trying to win his bout against Peter Manfredo and then Antonio Rubio will be his next choice. However, he said he wants to go against reigning WBA Super Welterweight Champion,
Miguel Cotto and the former WBC and WBO World Middleweight Champion, Sergio Gabriel Martinez in 2012 as his first priority.
Adding to this Julio Chavez said that Canelo Alvarez was a good fighter and he would like to fight with him as well. However, the decision is in the hands of Top Rank to grab the possible contender for him. Let’s see who his next contender is.
