Cesar Gracie wants Nick Diaz to be compensated well against Georges St-Pierre – UFC News
It seems like every other UFC entity is trying to make more and more with the idea of super-fights. Recently, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White came up with the idea of putting a fight between welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre
and Nick Diaz, welterweight contender. White asserted that he is willing to overlook Johny Hendricks to put Diaz in the line first.
Although Nick Diaz’s trainer Cesar Gracie believes the fight will be an exciting one and probably the right decision by White, he wants his fighter to be compensated well for the showdown.
“Dana announced it, we never knew about it. We learned from [the media]. We kinda got blindsided by it and we haven't been able to talk to Dana about it but now that [Ben Henderson vs. Nate Diaz] is out of the way, we can talk to Dana,” said Gracie on MMA
Fighting.
“This is a big money fight. These athletes are on FOX TV, they gotta be compensated correctly. They give their heart and soul into it and you got a guy playing football or hockey and they're making way more than these fighters, I think it's time, it's kinda
nice when these fighters speak up, I think,” he added.
Of course, everyone is aware of the fact that White is trying to make the best by putting the best fighters against each other. Probably this is the reason why Gracie wants his fighter to be compensated well.
On the other hand, White is hoping to utilise GSP as much possible after an 18-month temporary retirement. For now, White is trying to put GSP against Diaz in order to keep fans busy. Ultimately, White wants ‘The Rush’ to face middleweight champion Anderson
Silva, in order to create UFC’s first ever super-fight.
For now, White knows GSP is not willing to fight Silva and so he is trying Diaz as a replacement. Silva will be busy until the mid of next year and only then will he be able to fight ‘The Rush’. Hopefully by then even GSP will be ready to take on the showdown
without any hesitations.
