  1. Yeah you have to get it as a puppy so it has an enviorment around children, and train it really well!!

  2. If you do everything Cesar Milan does, the breed will  be perfect. Make sure your the alpha dog, and you and your family are the leaders. Do you watch the show a lot ?

  3. ROTTS, PITTS, GERMAN SHEPARD, NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN.

  4. If you watch Cesar you know what the important parts are, you have to exercise the dog and you have to be the pack leader. Whatever dog you get this will be true, also take some obedience classes and make sure to socialize the dog with other dogs.

    Rotts are great dogs...

  5. Again, do not get a Rottie because Cesar Millan says so. That isn't a legitimate reason to have this breed.

Yes, Rottweilers make great family dogs, but they certainly aren't for anyone who is inexperienced or lack certain discipline and training. No dog reguardless of breed should be left alone with children.

If you lead an extremely active lifestyle where you are gone all the time, a Rottie is not right for you. Your wife has to take care of those children and if you go to a job during the day, you cannot expect her to take care of those two kids and a dog. If that is what you are thinking, think again.

  6. I would say Yes.  I personally own an Akita.  They grow to about the same weight and size as Rottie and just as effective guard dog.  My Akita is awesome with kids ( I have 2 ) and is great guard dog.  The truth is Rotties are a bit more active than Akita's and when puppies can be over excited.  Akita's are calm even when puppies.  That said if you were to go to a home and break in and there was an Akita or rottie I think you would be more scared of the Rottie.  Why I don't know both are awesome guard dogs but Rotties just look meaner. It is a proven fact that Rotties are good with the family and children.  Akita's were bred to look after children and this is why I got an Akita.  I would own a Rottie though.  My next dog to get this year is a Bullmastiff.  Considered by most websites as the number one guard dog.  I don't agree I think the Cane Corso is the best guard dog but Rotties, Akita's and Bullmastiffs are up there in the top 10.  To answer your question.  YES Rotties are great with kids and good guard dogs.  Just ensure you get a good breeder.  These dogs have been bred to the point of being ridiculous.   all the best.

  7. Its really all on how you raise them. They need to be socialized in all types of environments with all kinds of people and animals. Dont let kids sit on them or hit them, pull on their ears or take food from them. You shouldnt have a problem.

    Good luck!

  8. IMO Rotties are a poor choice for inexperienced owners or people who do not have the time and the intention to do intensive training with a dog.

No dog can be left alone with small children, regardless of breed.

I love Rotts...but, I've also been training for years and am prepared to deal with their bull-headedness and "make me" attitudes.

  9. it should be fine aslong has you train them well and show that you are the leader. also get one that has been raised from birth with children. it helps a whole lot. rotty's are really strong and they might knock over your kids so be careful. also train your kids not to hurt the dog by pulling or hitting or etc. as long as they don't bother the dog and the dog is well trained and well behaved with kids everyone should be happy. however if you want my opinion you should get one of the smaller breeds or a retriever they are usually the family dogs.

  10. family meaning what?  What is your family life style like?  I wouldn't pay too much attention to CM.  Go to the akc.org and read up on several breeds and decide what would be right for you.  Please do research, not all dog breeds are the same lol a lot of people think this.

  11. As long as the puppy is raised around children, it should be fine.

  12. HAHAHAHA. you don't wanna a Rottweiler around little kids. if they try to ride him or something dumb there gonna get bit bad. Unless of course the male is neutered or its a female.

  13. as long as it gets tons of socialization especially around kids. my neighbor had one and she was great, all the kids on the block would go run around and play with her. so it just depends on the the dog is raised

  14. I hate that guy...

I know lots of rotties that are great with kids.... Adopt an adult that is well temeramented, or get a puppy and make sure you take training classes so you know how to appropriately handle such a big dog!

  15. they are wonderful dogs to have as a family pet but you need to get one for a great breeder and raise it to accept kids and anything they may do to it. I always had rotties when I was a kid

  16. Any kind of dog can be great with kids.. and just like kids in all in how you raise and teach them.

If you get a Rotty make sure to put him/her through as much training as possible for basic commands.  Ensure you and your family keep the hierarchy in the family in the correct order.

Teach your children the correct manners to have around puppies and dogs and all teh training procedures they should do - regardless of your kid's age.

If you follow those steps you'll have a well adjusted friendly family oriented dog.

    Good Luck

  17. yes, they are great with families. my friend has always ownedd rotts. and theyre great dogs
