Cesare Fiorio: Adrian Newey is the difference for Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Former Ferrari team boss Cesare Fiorio has recently stated that Red Bull Racing team’s technical director Adrian Newey is the main difference maker for them as his versatile thinking has helped the team a lot in its developmental process.
Fiorio used to be Ferrari’s boss 20 years ago before Jean Todt. Since the team’s current team boss has not been able to prove himself since the past couple of years, Cesare claims that Stefano Domenicali has a lot of pressure on his shoulders at the moment
as Ferrari are not an ordinary team at all.
“If Domenicali had Adrian Newey, it would be him who is considered the phenomenal team manager,” Fiorio told La Nazione newspaper.
This is quite a controversial statement by the 72 year old as many believe that Christian Horner is also playing a major role in RBR’s success.
The sport is about technology but also about driving. Nowadays, a good driver with the best car can even defeat the best driver with a good car. This has started to happen because of the abrupt introduction of many technologies in Formula 1.
Fiorio also stated that he would have signed Jenson Button as a replacement for Felipe Massa but since the team wants a younger driver who can learn from Fernando Alonso with due time, that is going to help the team a lot in the long run.
“I would have taken Jenson Button already, but time passes and Ferrari apparently needs to have a young driver who can learn from Alonso,” he added.
Ferrari are struggling to perform as a constructor since 2010 as Massa is not coping up with Alonso’s pace which is quite disappointing for the team. The team is hoping of flourishing in the coming couple of years and it is going to be great to see the top
3 fighting against each other once again like they did in 2010.
