The Rossoneri legend has stated that while he can understand the sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to astronomical wages, there is little wisdom in the decision of the outfit to sell the Brazilian defender.
Cesare Maldini has criticised AC Milan’s decision to sell Thiago Silva and possibly http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, and believes that the Brazilian defender could have gone on to become a captain of the Italian giants.
The Rossoneri recently confirmed the sale of their prized defender to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported sum of €42 million, and the French outfit is expected to follow the deal with the acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Maldini has voiced his opposition to the sales, and stressed that these are not the kind of transfer moves that stand true to AC Milan’s philosophy and image as an Italian giant.
The former Diavolo defender stated that while the extremely high wages of ageing Ibrahimovic could be a reason behind his seemingly imminent sale, he sees no logic behind sacrificing a promising young talent such as Thiago Silva.
The Rossoneri legend admitted that the Brazilian was also getting a hefty pay check from the Milan outfit, but pointed out that the defender had years of service ahead of him, and could have gone on to captain the Italian giants.
While talking to TMW, the 80-year-old said:
“I’m not in favour of the sales. Milan are not used to these kind of departures. I can, to some degree, understand the sale of Ibrahimovic given that he is almost 31 and has astronomical wages, but I don’t get the sacrifice of Thiago Silva. The Brazilian
earned a lot too, but he is young and has the time to continue improving. He was the captain of the future…”
The departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 took his leave from San Siro.
Maldini insisted that the departure of the veteran defender has left a big hole in the club’s defensive strength, and hailed the centre-back as a player with great quality.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 manager went on to state that Francesco Acerbi seems to be a promising acquisition by AC Milan, and expressed his hope that the new signing will develop into a great player for the outfit.
