The Azzurri chief has hailed his players for their brilliant performances in Euro 2012, but believes that some changes need to be established before the nation can win another major tournament.
Cesare Prandelli has voiced his pride at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926’s performances in the European tournament, but has stressed upon the need for some imminent changes required in the nation’s football.
The Azzurri lost to the defending Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 4-0 in the final of the Euros, and the Italian tactician is adamant that more needs to be done.
Prandelli stated that football has the ability to bring change, especially in a country like Italy that is preoccupied with old ideas.
The Azzurri chief stressed upon the need for his nation to shun the historic notes, and adapt to new ones with time in order to progress as a country.
The Nazionale tactician insisted that he came to the Euros with a mission to bring change, and called for his boys to keep their faith in their ability to bring just that.
While talking to the press, the 54-year-old said:
“Football can be used as a vehicle for change. We are an old country, with old ideas and we must have the courage to change. We came to the tournament with a desire to change and we need the strength to believe. Although it is difficult, we have to bind
the way we play with results.”
Prandelli went on to state that he always wanted to create a national side with the mentality of a club, and insisted that he has succeeded in doing so with Italy.
However, the Azzurri manager stressed that there is more work to be done before his team can win a European tournament.
“We have constructed a national team with the mentality of a club team. But we are perhaps still not ready to win a European Championship. But when we are we will win and then win again.”
The Nazionale manager insisted that they need to follow the example set by Spain, and stay true to a project in order to gain strength as a team.
The Azzurri chief revealed that he has an idea about the way of the future, and called for support in his pursuit to take Italian football to the next level.
