The Nazionale national team head coach fielded a young side, and he found positives in the friendly against the Three Lions as he gave debuts to six players.
The former Fiorentina head coach has always been in favour of fielding young energetic sides and this was demonstrated in the European Championships as well, as the average age of the Azzurri was relatively lower than it has usually been at major tournaments.
The project that Prandelli is trying to implement in the Azzurri style of play is to bring in players in the national set up is to bring in players who are relatively young and can endorse his methodology. He wants quick interchange between passes and flamboyancy
in his team.
In order to appease the public, Prandelli was forced to bring in some players that did not fit his criteria. The biggest example of this would have to be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306. Di Natale had been excluded from the squad ever since Prandelli’s arrival as head
coach, and he only made it back into the squad following exceptional performances in the Lega over the past two campaigns.
In the first match after the European Championships, Prandelli opted to revert back to his preferences and opted to call in a young side. This could be seen from the fact that the age of the squad which played against England in yesterdays friendly was under
25 years old.
Prandelli called 12 players into the squad who had been uncapped, and he gave six of them a debut in the match played out in Switzerland. When playing with such a new side, it is bound to see a change in the results from the norm and that is exactly what
happened.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 had put the Azzurri in the lead. Prandelli was philosophical in their defeat and remarked:
“Defeats are still defeats, even if they are friendlies, but they are useful because we are planning the World Cup qualifiers and I got some good indications today.”
Mattia Destro and Stephan El-Shaarawy made their debuts as they were promoted from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 U-21 team.
