The Italian national team head coach has set his sights on Udinese’s talismanic striker, Di Natale, and mentioned that he was considering the striker for Euro
2012.
Italy’s striking woes ahead of the European Championship in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 have been well publicised. Prandelli has not hidden his admiration for his preferred strike
partnership of Antonio Cassano and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuseppe-Rossi-c15027, claiming that he is willing to wait till the last moment to take Cassano along for Euro 2012.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 has been out of football ever since his mini-stroke on AC Milan’s flight back from Rome back in October. The striker was diagnosed to have a rare heart condition,
and subsequently had to undergo surgery. After months of recovery, Cassano has finally made his way back into training, however doubts still loom whether the striker would be match fit come June.
Reports suggest that the Nazionale head coach made a trip to the Zebrette’s training complex to ask Francesco Guidolin to release their talismanic striker for Italy’s training
course to be held in late April.
Prandelli was granted permission from the Italian football authorities to have a two day training program. The purpose of the course is to build comradery within the national
squad and to assess the quality at hand so that final selections can be made.
Guidolin remained coy on the discussion he had with the Italian national team boss, with rumours suggesting that the reason behind the visit was Di Natale’s inclusion in
the training camp.
Many have suggested that Di Natale is lower down the pecking order of strikers for Prandelli, but the tactician has insisted that he values the striker’s accomplishments
over the course of his career. In an interview to the Udinese Channel, the Nazionale tactician remarked:
“I’ve been saying this for a year now. He is a player who is enjoying an extraordinary run of consistent form, therefore he is being followed.”
While reflecting on his chances of making it to the Euro 2012 squad, he added:
“I’m considering him very strongly. But wait before you say that he will ‘definitely be at Euro 2012’.”
Euro 2012 would be starting in June.
