The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 manager has revealed that his disagreements and misunderstandings with the Della Valle family led him to part company with the Viola, and join his national team.
Cesare Prandelli has unveiled his true reason behind bidding farewell to Fiorentina, and has stressed that his disagreements with the Della Valle family were at the heart of his discord with the club.
The veteran tactician left the Florence outfit in the summer of 2010 to join the Azzurri, but has revealed that his decision was motivated by his plight with the Gigliati owners.
Prandelli stated that he relishes in the memories of the time spent at Fiorentina, and revealed that he had an enormous desire to win trophies with the Viola as it would have been a wonderful achievement.
The Nazionale chief related that he had a wonderful thing going on at the club, where he had a healthy project and a strong squad at his disposal that had the potential to achieve great things.
The Italian tactician insisted that his struggles with the Gigliati over the years had brought the club to a point, where they were competing strongly in the UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia, while maintaining a respectable
position in Serie A.
While talking to Italian GQ magazine, the 54-year-old said:
“I had four and a half extraordinary years in Florence. I really wanted to win there, because if you manage to win at Fiorentina then it’s amazing. We had a squad, a project and all those things that make the difference. In January,
after four and a half years, we were still in the race for the Champions League and Coppa Italia, doing well in Serie A too.”
Prandelli revealed that their troubles started when he asked for two medium-level Italian players, but his request was answered with five foreign players that he had not asked for.
The Italy manager stated that at that time he lost his credibility with the team, who also started believing that there was no plan in place and gave up.
The former Viola manager mentioned that his departure from Fiorentina was not a pleasant one, and insisted that what made the farewell even bitterer was the fact that somebody had bad-mouthed him to the Della Valle brothers.
Prandelli concluded that although he tried to bridge the misunderstanding, but it did not help.
