FIGC President has stated that the Azzurri chief along with Demetrio Albertini and Arrigo Sacchi will give their inputs to select a new manger for the nation’s under-21 side.
Giancarlo Abete has stressed that Cesare Prandelli will have his say in selecting the best candidate to replace Ciro Ferrara at the helm of Italy’s under-21 team.

Abete stated that he has made personal contact with Sampdoria and the former Juventus coach, and insisted that the federation has decided to release the tactician from his contract with FIGC.
The Federation chief went on to reveal that the responsibility for selecting a new manager has been put on the shoulders of Prandelli, along with FIGC Vice-President Demetrio Albertini and youth sector co-ordinator Arrigo Sacchi.
The Federation President insisted that the step has been taken in order to encourage a more organic relationship between the different branches of the Italian football body, and to give more control to Prandelli over the affairs of the national football.
While talking to the press, the Italian businessman said:
“I’ve spoken with Sampdoria and with Ferrara. He has expressed a desire to tie himself to Sampdoria and we have given him our approval. Now it will be up to Prandelli, FIGC Vice-President Demetrio Albertini and youth sector co-ordinator Arrigo Sacchi to identify a new Coach for the Under-21 side. The aim of the Federation is to allow a more organic relationship between the Coach with the Under-21 side, as well as the other youth teams.”
Prandelli had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction over the ways of the Italian football, stressing upon the need to change the way Italian football is being run.
The Azzurri chief also called for FIGC to cater more to his requirements in order to allow him to continue his project with the national side to greater effectiveness.
