The Azzurri chief has blamed the lack of rest as the main cause behind the humiliation against Spain, and has insisted that the ongoing project will not stop.
Cesare Prandelli is disappointed at having lost the Euro final against Spain, but has confirmed that he will stay at the helm of Italy until the 2014 World Cup.
The Azzurri were humiliated at the hands of defending Champions in the final of Euro 2012, in a match that ended with the score-line at 4-0.
There had been speculation surrounding the future of the former Fiorentina coach, with many suggesting that the tactician could opt out of the national side to join a club outfit.
Prandelli admitted to having such thoughts, but stressed that it is paramount that the work that he has done with the Nazionale continues towards its completion.
The Azzurri chief insisted that the Italian squad has the vigour to do great things, and stated that he intends to lead the team into the 2016 World Cup.
The Nazionale manager was adamant that he enjoys a good rapport with the Italian football Federation, and insisted that the project is too irresistible for him to abandon.
While talking to the press, the 54-year-old said:
“I did have certain thoughts at times, but the project won’t stop and we’ll move ahead. We have the strength and the objective is to continue. My relationship with the Federation has always been good and I’ll talk with the President. This is a fascinating
and difficult project, but it would be impossible to leave like this.”

Prandelli blamed the lack of rest after the semi-final as the reason behind the sluggishness of his boys, and insisted that the difference in fatigue levels of the two teams was pretty evident in the game.
The Azzurri tactician insisted that the regret of not doing better on the final day will always remain, but also hailed La Roja as a quality opponent and deserving winners of the European crown.
