  1. C sections don't hurt as much till recovery, recovery can be painful and complicated, can prevent STD transmission in a high risk pregnancy from mother to child- such as an HIV postive mother. You probably wont be the first to see the baby. C sections are performed in emergency situations at minutes notice usually, doctors do not prefer to do them multiple times on women unless there is a risk.

Regular Delivery- usually hurts a lot but they can give you an epidural, sometimes they might have to stitch inside down there if the baby tears you though, and thats a little hard to recover- you can't go up stairs. Can be perfomed at home with the guidance of a trained professional provided you don't have a high risk pregnancy. Rooms are generally designed to look like home and you can get out of the hospital faster than with a C section usually. The father and other family can be allowed in  the delivery room to help you through delivery, making it less stressful on you.

A doctor usually prefers normal childbirth over a c-section but sometimes there are certain risks where a c section must be implemented for the safety of the child and/or mother such as STDs, breach babies (feet first) or a mother who is having certain complications like gestational diabetes, or severe sudden high blood pressure, or has been limited to bed rest during part of her pregnancy

I noticed a teenage mother in here, and a few comments about small mothers. Teenagers and smaller women sometimes need c sections because there body like there hips are not large enough to have a baby pass through the birth canal properly.

  2. C-Sections are not only for emergencies!!! Jeez. It completely depends on your doctor. If you pay for it, they'll do it. A lot advise against it, but you can have one if it's what you want. My Sister-in-law picked to have a C-Section because she was afraid of the pain and their insurance covered it. She's had 2 and was awake both times. My Brother video taped the whole thing. She does have a pretty nasty scar and like everyone else has said, down time was a while. Luckily she had family to help watch the babies. My mom had 2 natural, my older siblings. She had to have me C-section because I was breeched and had the U-cord wrapped around my neck, But it was still planned ahead of time. She enjoyed it so much that she had one with my younger brother and she has a small scar. So we all have birthdays on the 17Th's. My other Sister-in-law is due next week and she is going to try natural but she has a lot of ovary, cervix, and uterus problems so they have prepared for a C-Section also. I personally would try Natural and if I didn't like that you can always try C-section. Having a C-section first then trying to have Natural later is harder. Hope this helps!!!

  3. idealy you should have a vaginal birth but i mean its totally your choice

my mum and aunt pre arranged with there doctors to have C sections because they are both very small (under 5'0) and had heavey babies (over 9 pounds)

also my mum was a ballerina and i haddnt 'dropped' properly into her pelvis which would have made for a difficult birth

  4. Vaginal is better. Cesarean is really only used for high-risk pegnancies or if there is a reason you cannot deliver the baby. Also vaginal has a lower healing time, and no scars either!

  5. a vaginal birth is best and its the whole experience of having kids. C-sections are for emergencies if the baby is in stress or something is going wrong and they HAVE to get the baby out within the next half hour or shorter. Or if the baby cant fit between the pelvis.

with a c-section there's stitches that leave scars and can hurt as they heal and can rip if u move wrong.

vaginal theres a chance of tearing and little stitching that heal quicker with a little discomfort. if the doctors aren't complete morons and give her an episiotomy, which is cutting her there instead of letting it take time to stretch out like its supposed to, then it wont be so bad.

  6. VAGINAL! Once it is over, it is over, regular pain killer "if even needed are very effective." A cesarean takes SO MUCH MORE TIME AND IS SO MUCH MORE PAIN!!! If she has a cesarean she will need much more help with the baby as the pain from her abdomen will keep her from being able to care for the baby as much as she would like to. Recovery time from a cesarean is mush more than that of a natural vaginal birth. That is why cesareans are not a first option. TRUST ME I HAVE BEEN THROUGH IT! With my first born after the delivery "a 15 hour vaginal birth" as soon as it was over, I was like...what, it is over? Already, all of that for that little bit of time, it seemed like nothing compared to the pregnancy. Sure, emergency cesareans are necessary sometimes but like I said "emergency! for a  reason! It is not first choice by doctors or expecting mothers. Besides, with today's technologies such as "epidural" you don't feel anything really, back ache but NOTHING like the movies!!!! She will be fine and she will understand after the baby comes what I mean :)

  7. if you have the chance to experience a vaginal birth i would definetly do it. is a great experience.

  8. cesareans are only for emergencies...i had one and i must say that they are much harder to recover from...your stomache is sore for the longest time and right afterwards is very painful..its hard to really do anything at first, to pick up things, bend over even to cough hurts...the first few weeks you HAVE to take it easy or the scar can open up and you can get infections...not to mention it is so much harder to get your stomache back to the way it was before you were pregnant..with vaginal birth..sure your sore the first week or so..but you dont have the limitations you have with a cesarean...you recover much faster, its not as painful afterwards, ect.  plus the experiance is a much more pleasant one.

so my recommendation is DEFINALLY vagninal birth.

  9. Cesareans are usually done in emergencies, like when the mother has high blood pressure, or the babies condition is in question.

Personally, I had one and it's almost as if I never went through labor or the whole delivering experience because I didn't feel any pain. I can't complain about that. Anyway, it was done because I wouldn't dilate and I had had high blood pressure for more than 24 hours.

The scar is short and barely noticeable. By the way and I'm not looking forward to going through the "real" delivery ordeal any time soon. But I applaud all the brave moms out there that went through the pain.

  10. Im not sure yet. I will be 15 when i give birth so i didnt want natural and wanted a c section then i asked my doc and he said he thinks i should have vaginal with an epidural unless the babys too big or whatever then il already have had the epidural and they can do c section. I was nervous but now im excited.

I cant think of positives and negatives at the moment but u can always google them, that would give better info than i can.

  11. You can't just ask for a c-section. They are for emergencies only. They also take a very long time to recover from. I had to have an emergency c-section at 24 weeks.

  12. Vaginal is the best well that is all I know because I had three vaginal births and plan that for this one.  But I did not know you had a choice unless the dr sees a health issue or something goes wrong in labor vaginal is the way most drs want you to go.

  13. i think its so chicken @$$ed to just "ask" for a c section cuz youre afraid of going thru labor. ive had 1 vaginal and 2 sections... and vaginal is DEF the way to go.. much speedier recovery

  14. vaginal is the natural way, which seems to me, to be the best way. However, my son was born via cesarean because he just wouldn't come out, even after 47 hours of all natural labour!! In some cases cesarean is necessary for the health of the baby. It's a very common procedure and is also very low risk (of mishaps and whatnot).I think it should really only be considered if needed.

  15. Definitely vaginal. I have had both,  and the c-section sucked!  I didnt even want to get out of bed, i was soooo sore, and also with a c-section you have to be cathed and I wouldnt wish that on anyone.  The only bad thing about vaginal is that you might tear, and you have to constantly rinse your v****a with a squirt bottle for like 2 wks after wards.   In regards to Lori A.  Your v****a doesnt stay streched it should go back to its normal size.  And as far as tearing the nurse will prep you to keep the tear if any minimal. And also they didnt put me to sleep for my c-section, I had a spinal tap and was completely awake and talking to my husband and doctor through the entire procedure.  And also regarding Lori A  an epidural doesnt just numb your v****a but your entire lower half and it also helps considerably with your contractions. After I had mine I couldnt even feel my contractions anymore and the had to give me somthing through my IV so that I would know when to push.

  16. Even though everyone tells me that C-Sections are in emergency cases, I know a few people who apparently chose to give birth by C-section... I suppose it depends on the doctor.

    C-Section:

+ doesn't stretch the v****a, less pain generally

    - surgery lowers chances of having baby again... but not majorly or anything

    Vaginal:

+most natural, in most cases, least risk

    - stretches v****a, more pain generally

When talking about pain, during C-Section, your sis would be asleep, but if she had vaginal birth, she could go all natural (No meds) and have more pain or still have vaginal birth but with an epidural which numbs the v****a, so the pain is less except for contractions.

    Congratulations to your sis!
