Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal players are afraid of losing against top sides
Arsenal’s charismatic captain, Cesc Fabregas has claimed his team-mates are afraid of losing against top sides of Europe. Moreover, the Spaniard conceded that the Gunners’ players were scared against Manchester United last Monday, as they did not want to lose any point at Old Trafford.
However, Arsene Wenger and his men were beaten for the fifth time in this season, releasing their strangle hold on first place. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team triumphed against the Gunners at Old Trafford, by one goal, last Monday.

Moreover, the defeat against Manchester United last weekend was Arsenal’s fifth consecutive defeat against Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
Cesc conceded that Arsenal players’ were not only apprehensive before the Manchester game but they were also scared of losing against any of the bigger teams that they came up against. The Spanish skipper stated that the difference on the night against Manchester United was that Arsenal were scared of losing but they were not scared of winning. That was a big difference that played in the players’ heads.
The Spanish midfielder added, “Sometimes we seem scared of losing these big games – we don't really go for it and we're tempted to drop back and see what the opposition do. We look to see if we are capable of beating them by what they are doing and how good they are on the day, instead of us going forward, causing them problems and dominating the game ourselves".
Additionally, Fabregas does not doubt his team’s quality. However, the skipper insists that his club mates must overcome their psychological barriers, in order to be triumphant in the future. The number 4 shirt holder of Arsenal also claimed that his competitors were more aggressive than Arsenal.
He commented, “They have the belief that comes from not losing at all [in the league] this season. That gives you a lot of help mentally. I'm realizing more and more that football is all about confidence and mentality. Sometimes you do the right thing but, if people tell you it's not right, you start believing it, even though you were right at first”.
Arsenal is currently placed second in Barclays Premier League with 32 points to their name out of 17 Premier League games. Arsenal’s last week game against Stoke City, at home, was called off due to severe weather conditions in London. Arsenal will play their next match against Premier League title holders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, next Monday.
