While speaking about the pressure situation he had to go through while taking the last penalty, Cesc Fabregas describes the moment in his own words.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and Portugal faced each other in the semi-finals of the European competition and both the teams fought till the end and that is the reason why their game was decided on a penalty shootout.
Portugal made things extremely difficult for Spain and it was hard for them to not only create chances, but also to play their usual tiki-taka football.
Spain, despite their brilliant midfield combo of Silva, Xavi and Iniesta, were unable to contain Portugal.
The navigators were dominating the midfield and making it hard for Spain to move the ball around.
With both the teams creating very limited number of chances, Portugal were the side who managed to impress in the final third as they created a few threatening goal scoring opportunities.
However, their finishing was simply poor and that is the reason why the match did not end in their favour.
After the 90 minutes, both the teams were unable to find the back of the net and hence the match entered extra-time.
Spain bettered during the extra-time, and they made things difficult for the Portuguese defence. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 and company were able to handle the pressure and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Both the teams had to settle for a penalty shootout and with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 missing their second-last penalty Cesc Fabregas had the chance to find the back of the net.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 star said that he talked to the ball before shooting it and he describes his emotions in the following way:
"When I stepped up to take the penalty I said to the ball that we had to make history and it shouldn't let me down.
"I talked to the ball four years ago [when he scored the winning penalty against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926] and it didn't let me down."
Spain have won the semi-final of the competition which means that they are now in their second consecutive Euro final.
The defending champions now have the chance to make history as no team in the world has ever managed to defend its European crown.
However, with Italy and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 both being strong teams, and with one of the two facing Spain in the final, anything is possible.
