Cesc Fabregas claims Arsenal were beaten by rugby team from Ipswich
Arsenal's captain Cesc Fabregas has stated that he strongly feels the only reason his side lost to Ipswich Town was due to the rugby kick that was taken by the team.
Arsenal faced Ipswich in the Carling Cup yesterday, after the side was dominated by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the FA Cup and defeated by a score line of seven goals to nil. However, Ipswich managed to somehow recover from that loss and beat Arsenal
by a goal to nil, potentially causing one of the biggest upsets of the Carling Cup so far.
Following the team's poor performance in the match, Arsene Wennger went on to state that his team were poor all around and they had no spark or creativity whatsoever.
Arsenal dominated the game and even Fabregas played from the very first minute. However, Arsenal were simply cut apart by a long ball that was played from deep in the Ipswich half. Both the Arsenal centre backs seemed to get split
in half. As a result, Priskin went on to score the only goal of the game and give his side the win in the first leg of the semifinals over the Gunners.
However, Fabregas is not too happy about the defeat and has stated that his side will be looking to extract revenge on the Championship side, over the second leg.
The Spanish World Cup winner is reported to have said,” "I don't know it if it is long ball or it is a rugby kick, but it worked for them"
"I can only remember two opportunities for them, but it was from a long, long ball because playing football they could not really get behind us or attack us.”
"It is a bit disappointing because I think we were the much better team.”
After expressing his dissatisfaction with the match, the player then went on to reward his opponents with a little credit, only to suggest they were not a footballing side moments later.
"Credit to them because they played well, but Arsenal made the football, the other team refused to play football, they were lucky to score with a long ball.”
It seems that Fabregas, just like almost every Arsenal fan is trying to find excuses for the team's performance in the game. However, what the player should really try to do is to get the team motivated for their second leg and
then do all his talking on the pitch. Nonetheless, having already lost to Ipswich in the first leg, it now seems like even if Arsenal do win the trophy, it will not feel like they really deserved it.
